Annika Sorenstam

At the 1998 JAL Big Apple Classic in July, Sorenstam roared to an eight-stroke victory with a brilliant four round total of-19 under par. She broke almost every scoring record in the tournament's nine-year history It was her third victory, of the ,98 season and her third in the last five tournament’s she had entered. In 1995 and '96, the Swede won consecutive U.S Women's Open titles. Those two major victories are among 15 Sorenstam has captured in her five seasons on tour. Prior to the JAL Big Apple &127;n, Annika outplayed Julie Inkster to win the ShopRite Classic, shooting 17 under for three rounds. With these wins, the former University of Arizona standout moved to the top list with $661,724 in 13 events and to ninth on the all-time LPGA list. Sorenstam, who will turn 28 in October, now has more LPGA titles than any other golfer playing regularly on the U.S. tour that isn't in the Hall of Fame or at least 10 years older.
