Bill Powell and Clearview G.C.

Clearview was designed and built by Mr. Powell in 1946, and is the only course to our knowledge designed, built and owned by African Americans. This very historic golf course is located in East Canton, Ohio.

Clearview Golf Club is listed on the National Register List of Historic Places. Of the over 16,000 golf courses in the U.S., there are less than 15 listed with the Department of Interior as historic places.

Over the past couple of years it has
received quite a lot of recognition on a world wide level. In January The New York Times Book Review did a wonderful review of Bill Powell's book, "Clearview , America's Course".

The Powell family still runs the course and they have created a non-profit 501c3 Foundation " The Clearview Legacy Foundation", for education, preservation and research. It's great to see our people doing positive things and giving back to the community and future generations.
