Jesper Parnevik

"This was great playing with the other players from the other tours, it was fun to see how they play, Jim Colbert made loads of nice shots. Today's event was loads of fun, but the pin placements made it very difficult to get it pin high." Jesper Parnevik

Jesper sinks a 30 foot putt in the sudden death play off with Justin Leonard to win this inaugural event. What a dramatic finish to an exciting and great spectator event. I have been to and played in front of thousands of people in football stadiums but the energy and enthusiasm of the golf  fans was overwhelming. The tee shot by Justin Leonard brought to crowd to the pitch of excitement as it landed just 10' from the pin. The pressure was on Jesper as he reached the green, leaving his tee shot 30 feet away from the pin. The crowd stood there and thought that Justin had the event sewn up, but the 30 foot putt by Jesper was like a arrow to Justin's heart. Justin then putted and barely missed, actually it was a fairly good putt, but on this day only a Bird would have been enough. I asked Jesper what was going though his mind as he prepared for the putt and he replied " I knew that I could not leave it short, and I had just had the same putt a few moments before. I just went for it."
