Leo Rucker, is a Greensboro, North Carolina artist and a casual golfer, He started golfing about seven years ago, on Father's Day. Leo began reading and researching about black golfers of the past and, found a way to salute their efforts, by creating " A MOMENT IN THE FAIRWAYS." A self taught artist, married and father of one son, Leo has been painting since he was five years old. Leo primarily works in pastel, oils, pencils and acrylics to create drawings and paintings that are characterized by photo like realism that captures the heartbeat of his subjects. By combining his artistic talent and keen sense of purpose, Mr. Rucker hope's that people will realize these milestones in black history, and perhaps perpetuate a sense of pride and accomplishment in the black community as well as generate respect and admiration from others, by making this (Tribute Print to Black Golfers) a part of yourr collection for the New Millennia and to share with others these over-come boundary. I had the opportunity to see his work in person while visiting Carolina for the presentation of the Watkins Award during the Carolina Classic, and wow what a powerful artist. What style, grace and detail, I knew we had to feature Leo, he is quite a talent.
