History

The African-American sports experience is well documented on the playing fields, but behind the scenes where the decisions are made and deals are forged the representation is minuscule. The Black Sports Agents Association (BSAA) was founded in 1996 by the Reverend Jesse Jackson and some of the nation’s most renowned African-American entrepreneurs and professionals in the sport industry to address this paradox. Tremendously successfully in their respective fields, they formed an international organization of agents and professionals that would work collectively to further increase the presence and opportunities for African Americans in the sports industry. Today, the Association welcomes the participation of all members of sports related communities whose common goal is the understanding, advancement and ethical practice of sports management and representation.
