BDPA IT Golf Classic to be held on Saturday, August 10, 2002
We are pleased to announce the BDPA IT Golf Classic to be held
on Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Disney Osprey Ridge Golf® Course in Lake
Buena Vista, Florida. The golf classic is being held in conjunction with the
BDPA 2002 24th Annual National Conference. Join us as we focus on "Changing the
Culture of IT: From Access to Ownership".
BDPA is the premier organization for African-American professionals in the
Information Technology industry. For over 25 years, BDPA has fulfilled its
mission and worked to bridge the digital divide by providing career growth
opportunities for its members. We have increased technology awareness in our
communities by providing educational and professional development programs in
over 40 chapters across the country.
The BDPA IT Golf Classic will raise funds for the BDPA Student Information
Technology Education and Scholarship (SITES) Program. The SITES Program has
provided education and training for minority youth interested in the information
technology industry. BDPA has successfully reached out to thousands of students
through networking, educational programs, seminars, workshops and the annual
conference.
From tee to green, the participants in the BDPA IT Golf Classic will follow in
the footsteps of golf's greatest legends or create a legend of their own on the
award winning course and world-class facilities of Disney Osprey Ridge Golf®
Course.
The beautiful tropical wilderness surrounding Osprey Ridge may create a serene
atmosphere, but it will challenge the player from the moment the first tee shot
is hit. Osprey Ridge Golf® became a legend the day it opened. The accolades keep
coming for this Tom Fazio design. The course features dramatically elevated
greens and tees, nine water holes, and more than 70 strategically placed bunkers
throughout the course. Spectacular rolling fairways and immaculate greens create
a fantasy amidst an amazing landscape of forested nature preserves and osprey
nesting grounds. With links that wander through unusually hilly Florida terrain,
Osprey Ridge combines stunning beauty and tranquility with at least nine holes
that would be the signature hole on most other courses. These holes include the
incredible par 4 fourteenth, a green monster, and the awesome seventeenth,
surely one of the great par 3's in America with its two-tiered peninsula green
jutting into Osprey Lake. Your team will be ready to enjoy a day of pure
world-class golf. Osprey Ridge has been recognized as one of the best courses in
Florida by Golf Digest's "Places to Play" which ranks the best public and resort
golf courses in the U.S.
After the magical day of golfing, you will gather for the Golf Awards Luncheon,
where golfers will be awarded prizes for their accomplished play.
The golf classic will provide an opportunity to build relationships with senior
executives of corporations supporting the mission of BDPA. For executives, the
BDPA Conference offers other networking opportunities including the Plenary
Sessions, Dignitaries Reception, Entrepreneur Showcase, Workshops/Seminars,
Career Fair, Tech Expo and the Awards Banquet.
